Westin Trailhead Markers

Dado Group completed a group of small but thoughtful projects for the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio. Dado Group added to the existing design of the welcome house (originally designed by Alamo Architects) by complementing its simple, tapered stone volume with various plays on that geometry. Painted steel planters and sconces invert and repeat the building’s shape as does the custom signage. The trailheads Dado Group designed and built at the beginning and end of the resort’s hiking trails pick up on these same materials and textures. Built of native smooth-sawn cedar and steel roof trellis, the trailheads express a hint of modernism using traditional materials.
